The Kansas City Invention Convention (KCIC) is a STEMIE (STEM + Invention + Entrepreneurship) competition and outreach program presented by the Linda Hall Library. KCIC teaches creative problem-solving to students in grades 5-12, while providing educators with a FREE project-based curriculum that follows a seven-step invention process. Students competing at KCIC develop a prototype, design a display board, document their invention process, and make a four-minute pitch to a group of judges. Inventors compete for cash prizes with every inventor placing first in each grade category earning an expenses paid trip to represent Kansas City at U.S. Nationals, hosted at The Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan.
