The Kansas City Rose Society holds a noble legacy as stewards of the Laura Conyers Smith Municipal Rose Garden in Loose Park since 1931.
Our Board of Directors plays a vital leadership role in supporting the rose garden, public events and educational programs like Rose Day, Wine & Roses, and rose garden education. Current board members bring diverse expertise—from rose gardening and nonprofit fundraising to event coordination and community engagement.
Who We Are Looking For
Board members share a love for roses and service to the community. We're seeking individuals with:
A background in nonprofit governance, horticulture, education, outreach, or fundraising
Enthusiasm for representing the Society at events and engaging with diverse audiences
A commitment to helping preserve and expand our rose garden and programs
What You’ll Do
As a board member, you'll:
Attend 6 board meetings per year and participate in Rose Society events and activities. events
Offer strategic guidance for signature initiatives like rose garden care, community events, and fund raising projects.
Serve as an ambassador helping grow membership, volunteerism, and community connections
