The Data Quality Specialist plays a critical role in advancing systems-level strategies to prevent and end homelessness. This position ensures the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of information within the Homeless Management Information System. Working closely with system administrators, service providers, and partner agencies, the Data Quality Specialist supports the implementation of data quality standards, conducts routine audits, and provides training and technical support to end users. Through these efforts, this position contributes directly to the Continuum of Care’s (CoC) mission of achieving equitable and lasting solutions to support the needs of everyone facing housing instability.
Key Responsibilities:
Works collaboratively with HMIS team to determine HMIS training needs
Assist with responding to HMIS ticketing system
Works with MO-604 organizations to gain comprehensive knowledge of the scope and eligibility requirements of housing availability
Familiarizes self with HUD terminology and data collection methods/best practices
Assist on report preparation for local, state and national submissions like Annual Performance Reports (APR), Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER), Longitudinal System Analysis (LSA), System Performance Measures (SPM), and other custom reports.
Develops and generates reports to monitor data quality
Clean and assist to maintain the quality of the data
Maintains dashboard of community advancement in data quality
Research, interpret and prepare datasets, as requested
Conducts quarterly case conferencing with active HMIS programs to build a comprehensive understanding of each organization's population served and needs
Attends monthly Admin meetings and multiple CoC Committee meetings
Support the Data Systems Manager with other assigned task
Qualifications:
Strong writing, reading, listening and speaking communication skills
Possess attention to detail with high level of accuracy
Possess excellent time management skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision
Displays high level of initiative, effort and commitment towards completing task efficiently
Ability to work and communicate with staff and community agencies with manner, yet appropriate assertiveness as situation may demand
Undergraduate degree in social work, behavioral science or degree plus related experience
One to two years of previous HMIS experience
Computer literate; experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Google (Forms and Docs)
