About Us

Keen minds, intellectual curiosity and compassionate hearts combine to make Cristo Rey Kansas City the place to learn how to be ready for college and ready for work. The foundation of a Cristo Rey education is the emphasis on critical thinking, communication and problem-solving skills. Collaborative work and proper use of technology and media literacy are integrated throughout the four-year academic program.

A defining characteristic of a Cristo Rey education is the work study component. Every student works one day per week in a corporate setting, earning one-half of the cost of education and learning invaluable skills that link the work place to learning.

Every year, 100 percent of CRKC graduates are accepted to college or universities, beating the odds for peers who are high economic need, racial and ethnic minorities. Strong academic programs challenge students to develop their potential and continue the life-long learning process with determination, conviction and optimism. Cristo Rey consistently tracks the progress of alumni 'to and through' college and is proud to confirm a 62% college completion rate. For the demographic of students served by Cristo Rey, just 9-14% of their national peers graduate from college.
