MISSION: To provide access to services that empower families and create opportunities for low-income children to succeed in school and life.
Miles of Smiles is now a program of LevelUp Kids, Inc. Through our many years of providing portable dental services for children of low-income families, we've become aware of more needs and barriers these children and their families face every day. At the heart of our mission is a desire to serve more children in need.
The Miles of Smiles portable dental program began in 2002 to meet the oral health care needs of low-income children in Clay and Platte Counties. Since then, we have treated more than 25,000 children for 85,000 chair visits. The dental program consists of two full-time dentists who provide treatment on-site, in schools, and at other social service organizations. Another full-time dentist works in our fixed office location.
In January 2020, we expanded to add a new, school-based vision program called ICare4Kids to offer vision screenings, comprehensive eye exams, and free eyeglasses for low-income children and those whose families are enrolled in Medicaid.
All dental and vision services are free for Clay and Platte County children who meet our income guidelines. To find out if LevelUp Kids is scheduled to come to your school or organization, call (816) 413-9009 or visit our Patient Info page.
