About Us
It is our mission at Whole Parent Foundation to provide inclusive and accessible mental health support and community for pregnant persons, parents, partners, and their support systems in order to enrich the health and wellbeing of our communities.
In Missouri, mental health conditions are the leading underlying cause of pregnancy-related deaths. And all of these deaths, according to the most recent data from the Pregnancy-Associated Mortality Review, are preventable.
Our programming offers free mental health services to mothers and birthing individuals, a population that faces significantly higher mortality rates compared to the general population. Maternal and infant health disparities are closely tied to socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, and access to care. Mortality rates for Black and Latinx parents are more than twice as high as white parents. LGBTQIA+ parents face higher rates of mood disorders than their heterosexual and cisgender peers.
We are proud to offer our services to any Kansas and Missouri parents and caregivers who are pregnant, postpartum, or who have young children. We believe every parent should have access to free basic community support before and after having a baby—regardless of socioeconomic status, regardless of perceived need. We are working toward equal access to compassionate, accessible mental health care and support for all caregivers. And we work hard, knowing strong mental health supports for parents will strengthen relationships, decrease intergenerational trauma, build healthy attachment systems, and fortify local economies.
