Cause for Celebration event on September 20, 2025, to raise $500,000 for vital community programs and services.
Kansas City, Mo. (June 10, 2025) — The YMCA of Greater Kansas City will mark 165 years of serving the Kansas City community with a high-impact fundraiser, Cause for Celebration: 165 Years of Impact, on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the Overland Park Convention Center.
The event aims to raise $500,000 to support life-changing Y programs across the metro, including swim lessons to prevent drowning, youth education and enrichment, food distribution to prevent hunger, adaptive recreational activities for young people with disabilities, and holistic senior wellness opportunities.
“We’re not just celebrating our past—we’re building the next 165 years of impact,” said Mark Hulet, CEO and President of the YMCA of Greater Kansas City. “This evening is about honoring those who have helped shape this movement and inviting the next generation of changemakers to take the baton.”
The evening will be emceed by Kevin Holmes, news anchor at 41 Action News, and co-chaired by community leaders Dr. Andrea Hendricks, Chief Inclusion Officer at Tico Productions, and Dr. Michelle Robin, founder of Your Wellness Connection and Small Changes Big Shifts. The event will include dinner, live entertainment from KC Flo, immersive storytelling, and a celebration of lives changed through the YMCA.
Corporate sponsors already committed include Garmin, Hallmark, Humana, Fred and Jami Pryor Foundation, BOK, JE Dunn, CityWide, along with support from other community pillars, and sponsorship opportunities remain available.
