Join the Camps For Kids Board of Directors
For 45 years, Camps For Kids has worked to make camp accessible for Kansas City-area children facing disabilities, medical challenges, and financial hardship. We believe every child deserves the opportunity to build confidence, develop friendships, discover independence, and experience the transformative power of camp.
To accomplish this mission, we partner with camps serving these children and help ensure they have the resources needed to thrive. Through scholarship funding and program support, we provide critical dollars that helps camps welcome more KC children and deliver exceptional experiences.
We welcome board candidates from diverse backgrounds and professions who are passionate about helping children succeed. As a Camps For Kids board member, you'll help ensure that children who might otherwise miss out on camp experiences have the opportunity to learn, grow, and create lifelong memories. Experience in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, marketing, finance, legal affairs, youth programs, or community engagement is valuable, but a commitment to our mission is most important.
Board members are expected to:
-
Provide strategic planning and oversight
-
Attend monthly evening board meetings (10 per year)
-
Help plan and execute two fundraising events annually
-
Serve as ambassadors for Camps For Kids within their professional and personal networks
-
Help increase the organization's visibility, donor base, and community impact
-
Accompany the executive director on one or two camp visits during the summer
-
Contribute a minimum of $2,500 annually through a combination of personal giving, donor introductions, corporate sponsorships, event table sales, and other fundraising efforts
If you are an enthusiastic, dedicated individual who wants to apply your professional skills, networks, and passion to help guide and grow a well-established nonprofit making a meaningful impact for kids throughout the Kansas City region, we'd love to hear from you.
This Volunteer Opportunity is promoted by Nonprofit Connect.
