Position:                             Accounting Assistant
Reports to:                         VP of Finance                                  
Status:                                 Non-Exempt, Part-time—approximately 15 hours per week

The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) was founded in 1988 and is the leading specialized accreditation association for business education supporting, celebrating, and rewarding teaching excellence. The association embraces the virtues of teaching excellence with an emphasis on the importance of learning by students. ACBSP acknowledges the importance of scholarly research and inquiry and believes that such activities facilitate improved teaching. ACBSP’s primary services include accreditation, individual member benefits, and conferences held in the USA and other countries.
 
Basic Function:
Handling the fundamental aspects of record keeping for ACBSP including recording financial transactions, managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank statements, preparing reports, and assisting with the annual audit.  The position is hybrid and will require some time in the office located in Overland Park.
 
Essential Functions:

  • Manage accounts payable and account receivables
  • Issue checks
  • Prepare bank deposits and receipts of money
  • Prepare financial statements
  • Prepare invoices
  • Review and process expense reports
  • Assist with budget preparations
  • Assist accountant with audit preparation
  • Reconcile bank accounts
  • Generate 1099's
  • Prepare appropriate schedules and reports as requested
  • Perform other related duties as requested by the CEO or VP of Finance
Qualifications:
  • Pursing an accounting degree or past accounting experience
  • Experience with bookkeeping fundamentals, including
    • Accounts payable and accounts receivable
    • General ledger maintenance
    • Completing financial reports
  • Experience with QuickBooks
  • Able to maintain confidentiality
  • Customer-service skills with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented with professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Organizational skills and prompt follow-up communication with professionalism, dependability, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Multitasking with an ability to establish priorities and work independently with minimal supervision
