The Folly Theater is the most up-to-date historic theater in Kansas City and home to diverse artists and performances, from the longest-running Jazz Series in the region to classical music, R&B, dance, youth programming, and much more. The theater, currently in its 125th year, recently received $4.2M in renovations, making the Folly a combination of 19th century history with 21st century amenities and convenience.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Ticketing Manager designs, implements, and supervises ticketing services for most shows presented at the Folly Theater. The Folly employs a small but mighty team; all employees must work closely together to fulfill our objective of bringing diverse live events to the Kansas City community and fostering experiences where all people feel welcomed, respected, and valued. This position requires a flexible schedule, including regular daytime office hours and evening and weekend performance shifts, as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain performances in the ticketing software (Spektrix) for all events sold by the Folly Theater;
- Process ticketing orders received over the phone, in person, and in the mail;
- Answer general patron questions and inquiries, including responding to voicemails and emails received in the main office inboxes;
- Forward department-specific voicemails and emails received in the main office inboxes to specific employees as appropriate;
- Communicate directly with rental clients regarding all ticketing related matters;
- Coordinate on-sale logistics for all events sold through the Folly Theater;
- Maintain accurate, professional, and timely correspondence with artist agents and rental clients;
- Prepare regular ticket sales reports for in-house accounting and management needs;
- Provide regular ticket sales updates to artist agents and rental clients per contractual agreements;
- Prepare accurate and timely box office settlement reports after each event;
- Keep all staff current regarding ticketing and event information;
- Schedule and supervise part-time box office staff;
- Prepare and process season ticket renewals;
- Maintain good data for all ticket holders;
- Keep current on news, best practices, and legal changes within the ticketing industry to maintain compliance, improve efficiency, and remain relevant;
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills needed for a successful experience in this position:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent;
- Two to three years ticketing experience;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products and CRM software;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Excellent customer service skills;
- Ability to lift and move items up to 30 lbs.

This is a full-time, salaried position, offering a complete and competitive benefit package. Starting salary is commensurate with experience. Evening and weekend hours are required as dictated by the theater’s performance schedule.
