Job Title: Associate Director of Individual Giving
Reports to: Chief Development Officer

Job Summary: The Associate Director of Individual Giving is an enthusiastic relationship builder who works closely with the Chief Development Officer to advance the philanthropic goals of Lyric Opera of Kansas City through individual giving and events to support the company’s full array of programmatic, educational, and strategic initiatives. This position will work closely with and report to the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and will be responsible for managing a portfolio of approximately 100 current individual donors and prospects giving between $1,500 - $10,000 annually. The Associate Director is primarily focused on new and increased giving at the Angel Donor level ($3,000+), and guiding donors through a moves management process toward increased giving at the major gift level. This position will also supervise the Manager of Individual Giving in all aspects of the Annual Fund donor campaign.

Portfolio Management & Solicitations (Up to $10,000)
- Manage a portfolio of donors and prospective donors giving up to $10,000 through all phases of the moves management cycle, with a strategic focus on growing the number of donors giving at the $3,000 Angel Donor level
- Meet or exceed revenue and other performance objectives, including the completion of 8-12 personal visits with assigned prospects/donors each month
- Build increasing levels of involvement and support among individual donors and prospects through recruitment and cultivation events, donor benefit events, and regular correspondence
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of donor contacts and ongoing communications with current donors and prospects
- Meet or exceed annual fundraising and special event goals by extending personalized invitations, soliciting event sponsorship and participation, providing concierge-quality service to donors, and cultivating individual donor relationships.
Angel Donor Annual Campaign Management ($3,000+)
- Work in collaboration with the CDO to devise strategy to achieve Angel donor annual revenue goals, supported by intentional and thoughtful portfolio management.
- Ensure that Angel Donors receive appropriate acknowledgements and benefits.
- Create and prepare solicitation materials, presentations, and related communications/marketing materials in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications staff.
- Responsible for the planning and implementation of all events related to Angel donors including but not limited to, the annual Angel Appreciation Dinner and Angel Recruitment events.
- Supervise the Development Concierge to ensure excellent stewardship of Angel donors and other VIP patrons at all performances.
Annual Fund & Aria Donor Campaigns Supervision ($1-$2,999)
- Devise strategy and direct Manager of Individual Giving in successfully achieving Annual Fund and Aria Donor goals.

- Proficiency in Tessitura or equivalent customer relationship management software (ex. Raiser’s Edge) a plus.
Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role is performed sitting at a desk, and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets.
Physical Demands: A portion of the work is of a sedentary nature sitting at a desk, but filing and other duties are required. This will require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Must have the ability to lift 15 pounds.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is an exempt, full-time, regular position. Days and hours are Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm. Work may require attendance at performances and other Company events. While most work occurs in relation to a long-term plan, will be required to be flexible to changing priorities and additional projects that can require overtime.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in arts administration, marketing, public administration, or closely related field.
- Three to five years of experience in fundraising or business development.
