Senior Manager of Philanthropy - Major Gifts

Responsibilities: 

We’re looking for teammates who share our passion for creating equitable access to nutritious food and addressing the root causes and impact of hunger. The Senior Manager of Philanthropy – Major Gifts is responsible for collaborating with the Director of Philanthropy in the planning, goal setting, strategy development, implementation, evaluation and securing of major individual and corporate gifts across the entire service area for Harvesters. This position develops, cultivates and stewards long-term donor relationships as part of Harvesters’ strategic plan with a dual emphasis on individual and corporate funding sources to meet a significant portion of Harvesters’ fundraising goals. 

 

Other aspects of the job: 

This position functions in an office environment and requires local travel in the service area. Some evening hours are required. It requires daily extensive writing and public speaking. Work venues vary from office to social events, to presentations, to large and small meetings and interactions with individuals, involving a variety of environments. This position requires an understanding of all Harvesters’ food safety policies and compliance with all food safety related procedures. This position meets the requirements and may be eligible for a hybrid schedule.

Qualifications:

  • Required Experience and Skills
    1. Minimum five (5) years of development experience, using a variety of cultivation and solicitation techniques.
    2. Digital literacy with experience in Word, Excel, Power Point, Microsoft Office and internet research
  • Preferred Experience
    1. 5-7 years documented success in sales and/or fundraising at the $10,000 level or higher, especially working with and targeted to corporate partnerships and individual donor support.
    2. Experience with Kansas City’s philanthropic community
    3. Experience with Non-profit fundraising software (Raiser’s Edge or equivalent)
    4. Knowledge of food banking industry
  • Required Education
    1. Bachelor’s degree in English or Business, equivalent field or related experience.
  • Preferred Education
    1. Master’s degree in Nonprofit Management or related field
