Position Summary =
The HOHKC Hope Academy Tutor serves under the Academic Coordinator and works in tandem with the Activities Coordinator and Academic Coordinator. They are responsible for providing academic support, tracking academic progress, and assisting in spiritual and life skills coaching for the residents at HOH. Together with the rest of the school team they will work to create a fun, positive, and educational learning environment for all residents of HOH.
 
Primary Position Responsibilities =

  1. Academic
    1. Responsible for tracking each resident’s academic progress throughout the semester through progress charts developed with input by each resident. 
    2. Provide one-on-one academic support, tutoring, and goal setting to each resident as needed
    3. Alongside Academic & Activities Coordinators, assist in the development of summer programming to include career shadowing, ministry service events, and field trips to enrich the academic environment.
    4. Responsible for communicating with the Academic Coord. on any concerning trends and/or growth patterns in a particular resident related to their academic progress.
 
  1. Disciplinary Support
    1. In partnership with Academic Coordinator, monitor technology use on all laptops used by residents for any improper use of online activity.
    2. Assist in establishing proper disciplinary actions and serve as support to Academic and Activities Coordinators in carrying out discipline.
    3. Work with the IT team and Academic Coordinator to resolve any technological issues that arise.

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Secondary education experience preferred.
  • At least 1-year prior experience in tutoring, mentoring, discipleship, peer tutoring, or academic instruction
  • Prior experience working with teenagers or adolescents
  • Must be able to climb stairs
