Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy (HBHA) is an ISACS-accredited, independent K-12 Jewish day school located in Overland Park, Kansas. We are seeking a full-time Lower School General Studies Teacher to join our team of excellent educators. The Lower School Teacher will collaborate with colleagues, students, parents, and administrators to provide an enriching, hands-on learning experience in math, social studies, English Language Arts, and Science. A qualified candidate will show mastery in understanding and integrating social-emotional learning into the curriculum, open communication with families, an approach to teaching the whole child, differentiation in all areas of instruction, and strong classroom management. This position reports directly to the kindergarten through eighth grade Principal.
Responsibilities
- Establishing classroom routines
- Writing weekly newsletters with pictures from classroom activities
- Communicating with parents about positives and areas for improvement for individual students
- Working as a teaching team with fellow teachers, administrators, and support staff
- Monitoring recess duties
- Providing enriched and differentiated learning opportunities
- Completing report cards each quarter with individual comments for each student
- Writing and implementing creative lesson plans that follow the scope and sequence of the provided HBHA curriculum
Qualifications
- Education degree, Masters preferred, and teaching license preferred
- Experience teaching Lower/Elementary school students
- Experience teaching social-emotional learning

Working Conditions & Physical Demands
Physical demands include dexterity for office machine/supply operation, including but not limited to computers, telephones, copy machines, facsimiles, and printers. Stooping, bending, reaching for files or supplies, and sitting or standing for extended periods is common.
