Special Events Coordinator

Since 1975 Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault (MOCSA) has been an essential part of the Kansas City metro. Our mission is to improve the lives of those impacted by sexual abuse and assault, and to prevent sexual violence in our community. This role will manage and implement MOCSA’s two large fundraising events and several smaller events throughout the year. In order to be successful in this role, applicants need to be organized, outgoing, have strong communication skills, creativity, and understand the importance of event attendees having an excellent experience while helping them feel more connected to MOCSA’s mission.

SUMMARY
This role is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing MOCSA’s special events including two large annual fundraising events raising over $700,000 annually, a donor reception and 3-4 cultivation events, and all 3rd party events, working closely with the development team and event committees.

The responsibilities described represent the primary responsibilities of the job. Other responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor as warranted by business needs. The incumbent is expected to do all assigned responsibilities. Grant funds may only be used for the provision of approved activities.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience. At least 3+ years of experience in customer service, volunteer and special event management, marketing and fundraising support. Word processing and database management experience in: Blackbaud Raisers Edge or similar software/database, Canva or InDesign, Microsoft Suite, social media platforms. Applicants should be organized, detailed oriented, flexible, and able to prioritize and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
Degree in public relations, hospitality, event planning, marketing or fundraising preferred. Minimum three years’ experience in special event planning, and marketing and fundraising support.

Work is typically performed in an office environment. While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK HOURS
This is a full-time position; business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Regular evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
TRAVEL
Frequent travel throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area to perform leadership and fund development duties.

The salary range for this position is $58,000 - $70,000. The base salary range for this role is determined by several factors, including but not limited to education, skills, licensure and certifications, and experience. The upper portion of the salary range is typically reserved for existing employees, and/or those with advanced credentials.
