Job Title: Chief Executive Officer

Position Summary

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for the management, administration, and leadership of Gilda’s Club Kansas City within the policies and procedures set by the Board of Directors and the Cancer Support Community. 

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO provides direction and support to all aspects of the operations of Gilda’s Club Kansas City, including the primary responsibilities and functions detailed below.

Primary Duties: The Chief Executive Officer will be responsible for the overall management and leadership of the organization. Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing day-to-day operations and ensuring the delivery of high-quality support services and educational programs for individuals diagnosed with cancer.

  • Managing the organization's financial health, which includes grants, special events, community and health system partnerships, individual and corporate donations, and other sources.

  • Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, including donors, volunteers, staff, and community partners.

  • Managing all staff including the Program Director and administrative staff.

  • Representing Gilda’s Club Kansas City in the community professionally and effectively through active networking, media relations, development, and outreach opportunities.

  • Ensuring compliance with the agreement between Gilda's Club KC and Cancer Support Community and Missouri law.

  • Maintaining positive and effective relationships with Cancer Support Community, other executive directors /chief executive officers, partners, and staff to achieve organizational goals.

  • Performing all other duties assigned by the Board of Directors.

Education:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Public Health, Business Administration, or a related field is required.

  • A Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a leadership role within a nonprofit organization, preferably in the healthcare or social services sector.

  • Proven experience in fundraising, grant writing, and donor relations.

  • Experience in strategic planning, financial management, and program development.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Strong understanding of nonprofit governance and best practices in board and staff relations.

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.

  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to working with cancer patients and their families.

  • Ability to lead and inspire a team, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.

Job Type: Full Time

Salary Range: $100,000 and over
