About the Missouri Council on Aging
Missouri’s aging population is projected to reach 1.7 million by 2033, presenting unique challenges and opportunities. MCoA is dedicated to supporting older adults as they navigate the aging process, promoting policies and practices to ensure Missourians can age well in their communities. Guided by the principles of the national Reframing Aging initiative, MCoA champions a network of 600+ industry professionals, advocates, and service providers united in the mission of creating age-inclusive communities.

As we confront issues like healthcare access, affordable housing, social isolation, and financial exploitation, MCoA drives solutions through advocacy and systemic change. Decreased legislative funding for essential services underscores the urgency of our work. By prioritizing economic security, we address the deep-rooted inequities affecting many older adults. MCoA’s primary policy priorities are:
  1. Increasing state and local funding for essential services for older adults.
  2. Protecting older adults from financial fraud and exploitation.
  3. Expanding resources for family caregivers to support those who care for older adults.
Supported by organizations such as the Marillac Mission Fund, Missouri Foundation for Health, and Retirement Research Foundation, MCoA provides resources like bi-weekly legislative calls, Learning Labs, and our Leadership in Aging program to inform and empower stakeholders.
