Position Overview: We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our team. The CFO will be responsible for delivering timely, accurate, and reliable financial information to the CEO and management team. This role involves leading the accounting department, ensuring fiscal integrity, and implementing cost reduction initiatives. The CFO will also interact regularly with the Board of Directors and play a key role in strategic financial planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide visionary leadership and supervision to the accounting department staff.
- Develop and maintain financial systems and procedures.
- Implement and improve financial policies, processes, and internal controls.
- Prepare and monitor the organization’s budget in consultation with the CEO.
- Oversee the preparation of monthly financial reports and analysis of financial data.
- Ensure timely completion of all tax filings and resolve any tax issues.
- Schedule and liaise with external auditors.
- Manage depreciation schedules and inventory.
- Provide administrative oversight of payroll processing.
- Participate actively in internal and external meetings.
- Travel as necessary.
Required Skills:
- Experience working at a Center for Independent Living.
- CPA or master’s degree in a related field (e.g., MBA or MPA in Nonprofit Management), or equivalent work experience (minimum of 10+ years in accounting/finance).
- At least 5+ years in fiscal management, including accounting, bookkeeping, and supervisory roles.
- Proven record of implementing system or process improvements.
- Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of nonprofit GAAP and government funding procedures.
- Experience working with diverse groups of people with disabilities.
Preferred Skills:
- Personal experience with a disability.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial management practices.
- Familiarity with healthcare software systems, particularly WellSky Personal Care software.
- Proficiency in financial reporting, analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for government contracts and grants.
- Excellent analytical skills.
Supervisory Responsibility: This position supervises all roles within the accounting and finance department.

Work Environment & Physical Demands: This role involves both office work and local/statewide travel for meetings. The position may encounter unpredictable clients and require occasional outdoor work with exposure to weather conditions.
