Location TreeHouse Facility, Liberty Hospital Campus, Liberty, MO
Pay Rate $18.00 – $21.00 per hour, based on experience
 
POSITION SUMMARY
 
The TreeHouse is a hospitality house operated by Liberty LiveWell Foundation, located on Liberty Hospital’s campus, providing free lodging and support to patients and families traveling to receive medical care. The facility offers 10 guest rooms. The TreeHouse Assistant serves as the on-site caretaker of the TreeHouse on a PRN (as-needed) basis, called upon primarily to cover when the TreeHouse Manager is unavailable due to illness, scheduled PTO, or other absences. This position carries no guaranteed minimum hours.

The TreeHouse Assistant is responsible for ensuring guests feel welcomed and supported, maintaining a safe and orderly facility, and providing overnight coverage as needed.


This role is best suited for someone with a genuine heart for service, a person who finds fulfillment in caring for others and who understands that guests at the TreeHouse are often navigating one of the most difficult seasons of their lives. The ideal candidate brings warmth and patience to every interaction, takes pride in creating a safe and welcoming space, and is comfortable working independently during evening and overnight hours.
 
TYPICAL SCHEDULE & WORKING CONDITIONS
 
Schedule Type:  PRN — called in as needed to cover TreeHouse Manager absences (illness, PTO, etc.). This position carries no guaranteed minimum hours. There may be weeks or longer without a scheduled shift, followed by several consecutive days of coverage during an extended absence. Candidates must be comfortable with this level of variability before applying.
Shift Start:  Typically between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM
Shift End:  Typically between 10:00 PM and 11:00 PM
Overnight:  Employee stays overnight in a designated guest room at the TreeHouse.  Employee is paid an on-call rate while staying overnight at the TreeHouse.  If required to work overnight employee will be paid an on-call worked rate of 1.5x hourly rate.  
Morning Duties:  Employee completes approximately 1 hour of morning duties upon waking to secure the building and ensure operations are in order before departing
Work Location:  On-site at the TreeHouse; overnight stay is required for covered shifts
 
WHAT A TYPICAL SHIFT LOOKS LIKE
 
A TreeHouse Assistant shift generally follows this flow:
Evening (4:00 PM – 6:00 PM Arrival)
  • Receive handoff from outgoing TreeHouse Manager or staff; review guest roster, notes, and any outstanding items
  • Greet arriving guests; orient new guests to the facility, house rules, and available amenities
  • Relay any messages or updates to guests
  • Perform a walkthrough of the facility to confirm cleanliness, supply levels, and overall readiness
 
Evening Operations (Through 10:00 – 11:00 PM)
  • Remain available and accessible to guests throughout the evening
  • Perform light housekeeping as needed
  • Handle any guest needs, questions, or concerns with care and professionalism
  • Enforce house rules and policies in a respectful manner
  • Complete the daily operations checklist; distribute exit surveys to departing guests
  • Respond to any emergencies or crises involving guests; follow established protocols
  • Note any maintenance or supply needs for follow-up
 
Overnight
  • Stay overnight in the designated guest room at the TreeHouse
  • Remain available to assist guests as needed during overnight hours
  • Respond to emergencies as needed during overnight hours
 
Morning Departure (Approximately 1 Hour)
  • Conduct a morning walkthrough to confirm the building is secure and in order
  • Check on guests; address any immediate needs before departing
  • Ensure all common areas are tidy and supplies are stocked
  • Complete any remaining checklist items and leave notes for incoming staff
 
QUALIFICATIONS
 
Required
  • Experience:  Customer service, hospitality, or guest relations experience; relevant experience in a healthcare-adjacent, social services, or residential setting will be considered
  • Availability:  Ability to work PRN shifts, including evenings and overnight stays. Must understand and accept that this position carries no guaranteed minimum hours and may go weeks or longer without a scheduled call-in.
  • Character:  Genuine warmth and compassion for others; emotionally mature and able to provide a calm, supportive presence for guests during difficult circumstances
  • Dependability:  Self-directed and reliable; comfortable working independently during evening and overnight hours with minimal supervision
  • Skills:  Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to remain calm and compassionate under pressure
  • Education:  High school diploma or equivalent preferred; relevant experience considered in lieu of formal education
  • Licensure:  None required
 
Preferred
  • Experience:  Previous experience in a residential, hospitality, or non-profit setting
  • Background:  Experience in a healthcare-adjacent, social services, or hospitality environment where empathy and guest relations were central to the role
  • Other:  A background check is required prior to hire
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
 
  1. Welcome and admit guests to the TreeHouse; orient new guests to the facility and house policies; relay messages and updates to guests.
  2. Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment through light housekeeping and facility upkeep.
  3. Complete the daily operations checklist and distribute exit surveys to departing guests.
  4. Remain available to guests throughout the evening and overnight shift; respond to needs with professionalism and compassion.
  5. Respond appropriately to any emergencies or crises involving guests; follow established emergency protocols and notify appropriate staff.
  6. Enforce house rules and policies in a respectful and consistent manner.
  7. Monitor and report supply needs and maintenance or repair issues to the TreeHouse Manager.
  8. Conduct a morning walkthrough to secure the building and ensure the facility is in order prior to departing.
