FULL-TIME LITIGATION SUPPORT PARALEGAL
WARRENSBURG OFFICE
 
Legal Aid of Western Missouri seeks a full-time paralegal in the Warrensburg office.  This position supports staff attorneys in orders of protection and general domestic relations litigation.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, screening and interviewing potential clients; researching family law issues; drafting legal documents for attorney review; gathering information and records from third parties; assisting clients with their responses to discovery; communicating with court staff, shelter advocates, and other legal professionals; performing outreach duties as assigned; assisting attorneys in file maintenance and file closings; and other duties and special projects as assigned. Some same-day travel to meet with clients and attend court is necessary.
 
The qualified candidate must have the following:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree, associate’s degree or certificate program in paralegal studies, or previous experience as a paralegal;
  • Knowledge of legal terminology and legal communication principles and practices;
  • general competency in using a computer and working in Word and Excel;
  • Familiarity with family law is helpful, but not required.
