Staff Attorney

Kansas Legal Services (KLS) is seeking dedicated attorneys to join our team in the following locations:
KC, Hays, Manhattan and Emporia. This position offers a meaningful opportunity to make a lasting impact by providing high-quality civil legal assistance to low-income Kansans and helping individuals achieve greater social and economic stability.

About the Position

The Staff Attorney will advise and represent clients in a variety of civil legal matters, with a primary focus on:

• Family law
• Housing law
• Elder law
• Victims’ rights and crime victim advocacy
• Other poverty law issues affecting low-income individuals and families

The successful candidate will work closely with clients facing significant legal challenges and play a vital role in advancing access to justice within the community.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will possess:

• A current Kansas law license, or eligibility to obtain licensure upon passing the Kansas Bar Examination
• Excellent written and oral advocacy skills
• Strong interpersonal and client service abilities
• A demonstrated commitment to serving low-income and underserved populations

Recent law school graduates preparing to take the Kansas Bar Exam are encouraged to apply.

• Starting salary of $65,000 or higher, depending on experience and location
