WHAT YOU'LL DO
The Sculpture Technician is responsible for the maintenance of over three dozen sculptures in the Donald J. Hall Sculpture Park, as well as other pieces in the museum's collection. This year-round position primarily involves outdoor work during the spring, summer, and fall seasons.
This part-time role is vital in preserving over three dozen sculptures in the Donald J. Hall Sculpture Park and others in the museum’s collection. The technician will perform year-round maintenance and conservation tasks, primarily outdoors during the spring, summer, and fall seasons, ensuring the longevity and beauty of these remarkable works of art.
- Sculpture Maintenance and Repair: Perform regular cleaning, waxing, and repairs on sculpture coatings to ensure the longevity and preservation of each piece.
- Damage Documentation and Reporting: Accurately document and report any damages to sculptures, utilizing both written and photographic records to maintain detailed condition reports.
- Conservation Support: Assist the Conservator of Objects, Associate Conservator, and Conservation Associate in executing conservation treatments and other preservation tasks within the sculpture park.
- Noguchi Sculptures and Fountain Care: Maintain and preserve Noguchi sculptures and the associated fountain, including monitoring and adjusting water chemistry to ensure optimal conditions.
- Condition Monitoring: Conduct regular surveys and monitoring of the W. De Maria sculpture, documenting its condition and any changes over time.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work collaboratively with various departments and personnel across the institution to achieve conservation and maintenance goals, ensuring cohesive and effective operations.
- Additional Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall objectives and needs of the sculpture park.
- Other: All other duties as assigned and in general support of the department, division and/or museum.

Working Conditions
This role involves physical activity such as standing, walking, climbing ladders and scaffolding, and lifting heavy equipment. The work is performed primarily outdoors in various weather conditions.
