Youth Programs Manager
Job Summary: Manages the development, implementation, growth, and logistics of programs and services for children and teens who are blind and have low vision.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee the planning and management of 2 camps- Technology and Adventure Camp and various youth outings to provide youth development opportunities.
- Manages programming development for EYE (expanding youth experiences) and other youth development programs.
- Oversee the Summer Transitional Employment Program, College Prep, Academic Support and College Exploration programs- secures and confirms participants and placements, ensures compliance with curriculum, and required reporting to state referrers. Ensure that all documentation is completed on program participants to ensure timely reimbursement by the state as applicable.
- Communicates program details to youth, families, and other parties, as needed. Answers questions and help clients problem solve program issues.
- Submits program reports to supervisor in a timely manner.
- Acts as liaison to referral sources. Schedules and assists with planning meetings with clients and referral sources, as necessary.
- Counsels youth regarding issues of work and school-related behaviors, attendance, etc.
- Participates in marketing, PR and social media for programs and activities.
- May participate in professional organizations and conferences.
- Participates in staff meetings and contributes to the formulation of program development and procedures.
- Follows criteria and procedures for quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of all programs.
- Prepares and maintains written curriculum for programs.
- Manages camp staffing, program personnel and volunteers.
- Coordinates youth programs including Technology Camp, Career Exploration activities, Adventure Camp and Kids in the Kitchen.
- Engage with external partners, donors, sponsors and service organizations such as Lions Clubs and Delta Gamma.
- Collaborates with Adaptive Technology, Orientation & Mobility, Braille, and ADL instructors to ensure comprehensive youth instruction.
- Maintains accurate youth records, attendance, and progress notes within Athena.
- Ability to communicate effectively with youth, families.
- Recruits, supervises, and mentors interns, seasonal staff, and volunteers involved in youth programming.
Additional Functions:
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- For this position, a bachelor's degree is preferred, with experience working in youth programming, camps, child/youth development.
- Current knowledge of youth development programming.
- Culturally competent working with diverse staff, students, youth, volunteers and donors.
- Experience preferred in working with children and youth with a disability.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
- Experience managing and directing teams
