Program Manager, Healthe Kids Screenings
First Hand Foundation is seeking a highly organized and energetic Program Manager to lead the operations and execution of the Healthe Screenings program. This role is responsible for coordinating school-based health screenings across the Kansas City metro area, managing seasonal staff, maintaining relationships with partner schools, and ensuring each screening event runs efficiently and effectively.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Program Operations & Coordination
- Coordinate and oversee health screening events at schools throughout the Kansas City metro area.
- Manage scheduling and logistics for school screening sessions across multiple districts and locations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for partner schools and maintain strong working relationships with school administrators and staff.
- Attend and support all school screening sessions during the active screening season.
- Ensure screenings are executed efficiently, professionally, and in alignment with program standards.
Staffing & Team Leadership
- Recruit, hire, schedule, and support approximately 30 seasonal employees, including both clinical and non-clinical staff.
- Lead onboarding and training efforts for seasonal staff, with primary training activities occurring in mid-to-late August.
- Provide day-to-day leadership, communication, and operational guidance to staff throughout the screening season.
Equipment & Inventory Management
- Manage screening equipment, supplies, and inventory needs.
- Coordinate ordering, organization, transportation, and maintenance of equipment used during school screenings.
- Ensure staff are properly trained on equipment usage and operational procedures.
Planning & Administrative Support
- Support annual planning, scheduling, and program organization during the offseason months.
- Maintain accurate records, schedules, and operational documentation.
- Assist with process improvements and operational efficiencies to support continued program growth.
Schedule & Work Environment
This role follows a seasonal operational cycle:
September through March
- Primarily onsite at schools throughout the Kansas City metro area four to five days per week.
- Non-school days will be spent working from the First Hand Foundation office.
- Travel throughout the metro area is required.
- Mileage reimbursement is provided.
April through August
- Focus on planning, scheduling, hiring, training preparation, and program organization.
- Primarily office-based, working onsite five days per week.
Travel throughout the metro area is required, including locations such as Fort Osage, Liberty, Kansas City, and surrounding communities. Mileage reimbursement is provided.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous experience in program coordination, operations, staffing, scheduling, education, healthcare, nonprofit, or event management preferred.
- Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to lead and motivate seasonal staff.
- Comfortable working in dynamic environments where schedules and priorities may shift quickly.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and scheduling systems preferred.
- Medical or healthcare-related experience is a plus but not required. All program-specific equipment and processes are trainable.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during school-based screening activities.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and move screening supplies and equipment as needed.
- Ability to occasionally lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform regular computer-based and administrative work throughout the day.
