Hiring Range: Specialist $23-$25 per hour/Manager $27-$29 per hour

The Love Fund serves as a safety net for children whose needs are beyond their family's or support structure's funding capacity, providing goods and services that range across every area of a child's daily life. Position Summary

The Program Manager oversees all components of mission-based community support and assistance requests. In lieu of providing direct case management, the Love Fund partners with existing youth advocates to provide goods, services or vouchers to support children from birth to 18 years of age in the Kansas City Metropolitan Statistical Area or refer them to other organizations to receive services we do not provide. Working collaboratively with the Executive Director, staff, and other stakeholders, this role manages and strengthens community partner relationships and communications, manages program operations and growth, organizes mission events, supports the execution of fundraising events, provides engaging program-based experiences for donors and volunteers, reviews grant submissions, prepares data and impact examples for donor communications, and interacts with organizational leadership. 

Key annual programs with primary dates include Life Essentials (February - October), the annual School Supply Drive & Distribution (July & August), Sack it for Santa holiday gift program (November & December), Youth Ambassadors (September - December), and three school or community outreach programs (Summer Enrichment in June, Thanksgiving in November, and Shop With in December). The Love Fund for Children served 9,430 youth in 2024 and 10,439 children in 2025.

 

Position Responsibilities

Program Management

  • Oversee the assistance request process including application creation, review and approval of assistance requests, communication with youth advocates, request fulfillment, evaluation, and reporting

  • Create, maintain, and enforce guidelines/processes for each program to ensure customer service, fairness and compliance

  • Manage data entry, client case files and documentation in partnership with staff

  • Identify potential program enhancements and/or areas to improve efficiency and effectiveness

  • Lead all mission-based programs from end-to end, including annual initiatives and special projects. This includes stakeholder communications, logistics, volunteer management, etc. 

  • Research cost and weigh potential vendors and options to ensure strong financial stewardship

  • Maintain detailed financial records to ensure adherence to budget and proper grant reporting

  • Build relationships with youth advocates through consistent communication, educational programs, and networking

  • Identify and secure partners for community outreach programs; act as their liaison

  • Manage logistical details including decor, transportation, special guests, event timelines, catering, etc.

  • Oversee volunteers for events including recruitment, communications, waivers, on-site direction, etc.


Fundraising & Communications

  • Develop plans and execute communications to youth advocates and event volunteers

  • Prepare monthly reports for board members and funders

  • Partner with the Executive Director and Development Manager to review grant applications

  • Support opportunities for fundraising by identifying, securing and coordinating client features on the Love Fund blog, e-newsletter, video, social media and with media outlets 

  • Support fundraising events and other organizational activities as needed

  • Monitor the organization’s website and social media pages and submit update requests as needed


Administrative

  • Partner with the Executive Director to engage the Program Advisory Council and attend Board of Directors meetings

The responsibilities described above represent the primary duties. Other responsibilities may be assigned and expected as warranted by business needs.

 

Position Qualifications  - There is one position which will be hired at the Specialist or Manager level depending on qualifications.

Manager

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or a combination of education and unique professional experience

  • Experience working in non-profit, social work, community outreach or with disadvantaged communities

  • A minimum of five years of program or project management experience

  • Proven track record in program creation or expansion; experience leading staff or volunteers is a plus

  • Excellent and respectful verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including active listening, empathy, and teamwork.

  • Exceptional time management, organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple initiatives and deadlines.

  • A working knowledge of the Google Suite, Canva, and Constant Contact is a plus.

  • High level of professionalism and integrity in handling sensitive and confidential information.

  • Shares a commitment to the Love Fund’s mission and vision. 

Specialist

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or a combination of education and unique professional experience
  • Two to three years of professional experience required, preferably working in program/project management, non-profit, social work, community outreach, or with disadvantaged communities

  • Excellent and respectful verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including active listening, empathy, and teamwork.

  • Exceptional time management, organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple initiatives and deadlines.

  • A working knowledge of the Google Suite, Canva, and Constant Contact is a plus.

  • High level of professionalism and integrity in handling sensitive and confidential information.

  • Shares a commitment to the Love Fund’s mission and vision.   

Physical and Mental Requirements

The job requires employees to work primarily in an shared office environment, regularly sit, stand, and walk as well as use standard office equipment. Employees frequently lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 40 pounds. Employees must also interact effectively with various individuals encountered in the course of work and handle frequent interruptions. Work Hours
This is a part-time position with availability needed during regular business hours - Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Occasional evening and weekend work may be required with ample notice provided. The Love Fund offers flexible scheduling and a hybrid setting.
