Assessment and Coordination Counselor                                                                      Exempt 
Rose Brooks Center, a nonprofit domestic violence agency, is currently seeking a full-time Assessment and Coordination CounselorThis position is responsible for conducting the delivery of domestic violence assessments and therapeutic services to residential clients including assessing for trauma, mental health, and substance use. This position will deliver support planning and safety planning for residents of shelter, engaging residents in therapeutic support services available, providing crisis intervention as needed and helping link residents to the internal/external resources needed to help reduce their vulnerability to ongoing crises stemming from mental health, trauma, and substance use. This position will also deliver individual assessments for all shelter residents, therapy referrals for residents interested in therapy services, individual and group therapy to both residential and non-residential clients as assigned, and advocacy and support planning services.
As needed, the individual in this position will provide consultation and collaborative support to the multi-disciplinary team to provide meaningful, trauma-informed interventions and support to survivors in crisis.  This position reports to the Director of Clinical Services.  For more information about Rose Brooks Center, visit www.rosebrooks.org 
 
OTHER ASPECTS OF THE JOB:

  1. Assess mental health/substance abuse issues for clients and access additional supportive services as required.
  2. Communicate clinical information to the team process with recommendations for individual treatment needs and assistance in implementation of the overall plan.
  3. Perform all job responsibilities while demonstrating proficiency in all RBC competencies and a commitment to the overall mission of Rose Brooks Center and according to agency policies and procedures.
  4. Perform all job responsibilities utilizing the principles of trauma informed care, accessibility, equity and inclusion.  Participate in a minimum of 3 equity and inclusion related activities annually.
  5. Attend scheduled staff and team meetings; participate in all required trainings.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Education, Experience and Skills:
  • Experience providing therapy/counseling sessions, preferably in a domestic violence agency/residential setting and/or commensurate experience.
  • Experience in Substance Abuse treatment.
  • Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or social work.
  • Clinical licensure or approved license eligible (Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW; Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT; Licensed Professional Counselor, LPC)
  • Thorough knowledge of best practices and domestic violence dynamics.
  • Demonstrate respect for equity and inclusion.
  • Maintain awareness about the risks of secondary trauma and understand one’s own responsibility of self-care.
  • Provide proper information, resources, and guidance to staff.
  • Able to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize; able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, database systems and other software.
  • Able to have some exposure to animals (primarily dogs and cats).
  • Able to have exposure to contagions that may be associated with working in an office environment and/or shelter environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of liability insurance.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred
Work Hours:   Full-time, exempt position.  This position requires a flexible work schedule (average of 40-hours per week), primarily Monday through Friday days and two evenings per week to accommodate participant’s schedules and participates in on call rotation as assigned, approximately one week/weekend every ten weeks.
 
Compensation: This position falls into a range starting at $48,000 annually (exempt).
