Family Support Specialist

Transformation Visitation Home is recruiting Family Support Specialists (FSS) for the Greater Kansas City Area, funded by a grant from the Children’s Services Fund of Jackson County.

As an FSS, you will play a key role in supporting families within the community, helping to strengthen parent-child relationships and facilitate positive outcomes. This opportunity is ideal for individuals who are passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of families while working within a supportive and collaborative environment.

Contract Opportunity and Compensation

This position is offered as a contract opportunity, providing a competitive compensation rate of $30 per hour. Candidates selected for the Family Support Specialist (FSS) role will be engaged on a contractual basis, allowing for flexibility in scheduling and service delivery within the Greater Kansas City Area.

We are seeking candidates with experience in home visits within the KC Metro area and familiarity with the Jackson County Family Court System. The FSS role includes supervising parent-child bonding sessions, modeling effective parenting, connecting families to resources, and supporting reunification. Candidates should be flexible, culturally responsive, and able to complete required documentation.

Preferred Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in education, Child & Family Development, Social Work, Early Childhood Education, or a related field.

Minimum Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent plus five hours of annual training in child abuse/neglect, child management, development, cultural sensitivity, community resources, emergency response (including fire, tornado, CPR, first aid), and communicable disease recognition.
• Strong multitasking, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and full insurance coverage required for transporting children.
• Pass Family Safety Registry background check.
• Ability to interact professionally and supportively with troubled families.
• Flexible schedule, including weekends.
