On-call Advocate, Part-time

For 50 years Metropolitan Organization Countering Sexual Assault (MOCSA) has been an essential part of the Kansas City metro region. Our mission is to improve the lives of those impacted by sexual abuse and assault, and to prevent sexual violence in our community. We are seeking an additional staff member to provide back-up coverage on weekday and/or weekend shifts throughout the month.

SUMMARY
This position is responsible for assisting victims of sexual assault by answering the 24-hour crisis line, providing face-to-face advocacy services, and coordinating with MOCSA volunteers to ensure that survivors have access to support outside of MOCSA’s regular business hours.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED, excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of sexual or domestic violence victim advocacy or advocacy in a related field and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, human services, social work, or related field is preferred. Experience working with diverse communities. Fluency in Spanish.

WORK HOURS
The two schedules for this position are listed below:
TRAVEL
Regular travel throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area to perform advocacy and outreach services, including Johnson and Wyandotte Counties in Kansas, and Clay, Platte, Cass and Jackson Counties in Missouri.
BENEFITS
On-Call Advocates receive a shift rate of $175 for each 15.5 hour weeknight on-call shift and $717 for each 63.5 hour weekend shift, as well as an additional $18.00 per hour for time spent actively engaged. On-Call Advocates who work on a designated holiday receive an additional $50 per shift rate. On-Call Advocates are eligible to participate in MOCSA’s 403(b) plan and Employee Assistance Program.
