Volunteer Manager

Job Summary:

The Rabbit hOle’s Volunteer Manager will play a pivotal role, being responsible for the continued development and refinement of our volunteer program, including areas of recruiting, training, and scheduling volunteers to ensure effective management of the guest experience. This position requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills, a passion for community engagement, and 2-3 years volunteer management/coordination experience in a museum or similar setting.

Responsibilities:

Volunteer Recruitment and Onboarding:

  • Develop and implement strategies to recruit volunteers through various channels such as social media, community outreach, and partnerships.
  • Conduct interviews and orientations for new volunteers.

Volunteer Coordination:

  • Work with designated staff to match volunteers with suitable roles based on their skills, interests, and availability.
  • Maintain a volunteer schedule and ensure adequate coverage for events, programs, and daily operations.
  • Provide ongoing support and supervision to volunteers, including regular check-ins and performance evaluations.

Training and Development:

  • Develop training materials and conduct training sessions to equip volunteers with necessary skills and knowledge.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive volunteer environment through team-building activities and recognition programs.

Communication and Relationship Building:

  • Serve as the main point of contact for volunteers, addressing inquiries, concerns, and feedback promptly.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with volunteers, staff, and external stakeholders to enhance collaboration and engagement.

Administrative Duties:

  • Maintain accurate records, contact information, hours worked, and skills inventory.
  • Prepare reports on volunteer activities, impact, and outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of museum (or similar) volunteer management/coordination experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Workspace and volunteer management software.
  • This position requires some evening and weekend hours.
