Billing Specialist

DCCCA has been a licensed Child Placing Agency in the state of Kansas since 2001.  CPA staff work with foster parents to assist in providing the best possible services for children and families. We believe in every child's right to a stable placement with trained foster parents who are dedicated to his or her emotional and physical well-being, their educational opportunity, and permanency with the birth or adoptive family.

The Billing Specialist performs tasks in areas including, but not limited to, client and contract billings and researching and resolving outstanding billings and accounts receivable. The Billing Specialist provides support with various billing functions necessary to accomplish duties such as creating, reviewing, processing, and posting accurate and timely billing records and reconciliations for DCCCA within the constraints of defined controls, policies, and procedures. Billing Specialists will work closely with DCCCA’s CPA Advisor and Director in maintaining DCCCA’s billing records.

Essential Functions:

- Submits funder-specific format with all required data for client billings in a timely manner
- Monitors, researches, and determines resolution for outstanding client accounts receivable
- Monitor claims through an electronic data base
- Receives, reviews, performs research, and responds to correspondence; contacts case management providers or DCF regarding discrepancies via email or other correspondence
- Identifies and verifies adjustments that need to be made and follows-through with requests and documentation
- Follows up on discrepancies and requests for additional information
- Gathers the appropriate documentation to support all expenditures for a contract or grant
- Performs administrative functions such as claim reversals, authorization overrides and claim adjustments
- Manages and maintains the accuracy, quality, and timeliness of all billings according to specific contractual terms
- Proactively drives and implements billing best practices
- Identifies and proposes process improvements to increase organizational efficiencies
- Requires the ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Job may require the employee to be able to regularly drive to various DCCCA locations and other business locations throughout the state that can include early morning and evening traveling hours
- Other duties as assigned

Education, Experience, and Licensure

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Requires at least two years of relevant job experience
  • Experience in a child welfare setting preferred
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Understanding of basic billing processes and general office applications required
  • Ability to gain proficiency with web-based client software systems required
  • Must possess a valid state Driver's License, in force automobile liability insurance, and maintain a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that meets organization's insurability standard as defined by DCCCA policy. Availability of reliable transportation is required for this position.
